All our computer / IT training courses have been developed as part of the flexible learning service of Merkinch Technology Centre (MTC). Whether you are an absolute beginner or a seasoned user, our easy to follow courses provide a simple solution to bring you up to speed.

Bespoke one-to-one computer training sessions can be arranged through our trainer, Martin McLauchlan, who can tailor the training course to your requirements. Companies or organisations can also hire our computer training suite if required. If you are interested please fill in our Information Request form.

All courses shown below, with the exception of Introduction to PC, Introduction to the Internet and Outlook, are full day courses (9.30am - 4.30pm). Introduction to the PC / Windows and Introduction to the Internet usually run on the same day as indicated by the colour coding legend in the training diary section (Both shown as light green/blue).

Merkinch Enterprise offers FREE community computer / IT training to residents of Merkinch and the Inverness & Nairn catchment area. The courses are funded by the European Social Fund, Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey Enterprise and is also supported by Merkinch Enterprise. The course on offer is aimed at providing students with training and experience in the use of the industry standard software applications used by businesses throughout the Highlands. Merkinch Technology Centre is an accredited ECDL Test Centre. The European Computer Driving Licence is a Europe wide qualification in computing skills. It is designed to provide a standard definition of your competence in Information Technology.

You can hire any of the seven training modules or purchase all seven on our fully interactive CDROM under our open learning scheme. You can then come in and get yourself tested. Please contact us for further information on the ECDL (including costs) and advice on help with funding by phone, email, by using our information request form or drop by our office on Grant Street. Our Receptionist / Administrator Lorna McAllister or our trainers, Mairi Rule and Martin McLauchlan, are happy to deal with any queries you may have. If you are over 18 and living in Scotland, you could get up to £200 towards the cost of learning new skills.
ILA Scotland is a Scottish Executive scheme which helps you pay for learning that you can do at a time, place, pace and in a way to suit you.

If you earn £18,000 or less, you could get up to £200 per year towards the cost of learning. If you earn more than £18,000 a year, you could get up to £100 a year towards some computer courses.
