Life in the UK Test

Below are the requirements for taking the test. If you require addtional information apart from the information presented below then please visit the official Life in the UK Test website at:

• As the test is computer based, you must be able to use a mouse and keyboard.

 
• You should study chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Second Edition of the Official Life in the UK Handbook. The correct handbook to study is shown below:

• You should visit the Life in the UK test website to prepare for the test and to read the Terms and Conditions. Go to: The Home Office - UK Border Agency

 
• If you wish to change your test date and time you must give us 7 days notice or we will charge an administration fee of £10.00. This may also be charged if you arrive too late to take the test.

 
• If you have any requirements regarding the taking of the test (e.g. a disability or the need for a female test supervisor to be present to check ID) then please let us know.

 
• Expect to be at the test centre for between 90 minutes and 2 hours. This is to give everyone a chance to finish and get their results at the same time.

 
• The types of identification we accept for verification purposes are:
   
  • A passport from your country of origin. (This MAY be out of date)

    

  • A UK photo card driving licence. (This MUST be in date)

    

  • An Immigration Status Document, endorsed with a UK Residence Permit (UKRP) bearing a photo of the holder (This MAY be out of date)

    

  • A Convention travel document (CTD), which is a blue-cover document similar to a UK passport (This MUST be in date)

    

  • A Stateless Persons travel document (SPD), which is a red-cover document similar to a UK passport (This MUST be in date)

    

  • Certificates of Identity (CIDs) (This MUST be in date)

    

  • Home Office Identity Card (This MUST be in date)

    


 
• If you do not bring the right form of ID on the day, you will not be allowed to take the test.

 
• The test fee is £34.00. Test centres throughout the UK cannot charge any variation on this.

 
• The test fee must be paid on the day of the test. We only accept cash payments.

 
• If you have a Home Office reference number please bring it along with you on the day of the test.

 
• Please also take along a utility bill or bank statement for proof of your postcode on the day of the test.
