South Kessock residents urged to form a forum

A CALL is going out to all residents of South Kessock to come to an open meeting later this month to discuss the future of the area.

House owners as well as council tenants are being urged to come to the Community Centre on Thursday 20th April and have their say about the best way to go about continuing the improvements which have been already having some effect in the area.

The drive to form a residents' association in some form is largely coming from former members of the South Kessock Safety Karers’ project which is now defunct after running its course.

That project focused on the eight streets at the Ferry end of South Kessock, but the present call is addressed to the wider South Kessock area, including all the streets right up to the east of Grant Street.

Former Karers’ chairman Hugh Macdonald told News & Views, "We put out 800 invitations to an exploratory meeting, and although it was not as well attended as it might have been, it was felt that it was worthwhile going ahead and trying to form a residents' association. So we are circulating everyone in the area again.

"Following recent policy decisions taken by Highland Council, public housing throughout the Highlands is going to be run by housing associations, and it is vital that they get the tenants’ support as well as that of the wider community."

So come on, folks, have your say, by coming along to the Community Centre on 20th April at 7.30pm.
