THE deadline for Tesco’s Computers for Schools vouchers is 9 April, so the school is looking for a final big effort to collect as many as possible before then.
Do any mums or grans remember skipping games from their childhood? The summer term was always a great time for skipping games, and Merkinch pupils now are wanting to learn some, plus the rhymes that go with them, if anyone can remember?
Following the visit by P5,6 and 7 to Eden Court to see the ballet Prince Rama and the Demons, John and Lorna from Scottish Ballet came to Merkinch School to take a dance workshop. Tiring but very enjoyable, was the verdict.
Pupils are going to make a concerted attack on litter around the school grounds to mark National Spring Clean Week, which starts Monday 3rd April. Sweet and crisp papers are easy to pick up, but does anyone have any idea how to clean up chewing and bubble gum mess?
In great demand - Cereal boxes for making into book holders, also those plastic ring can-carrier thingies that can be recycled. Besides saving the planet, money raised from these goes to St Tiggywinkles Animal Hospital.
On Friday 7th April the school closes for the Easter holidays, and the summer term starts on Tuesday 25th April. There will also be the May Day holiday on Monday 1st May and pupils also get the Tuesday off while teachers have staff training.
