Memories’ triptych unwrapped
as
Elsie celebrates her first year
CELEBRATING
her first anniversary as activities developer at Merkinch Community Centre
brought out hitherto unknown talents in Elsie Normington.
Famous
for her smile and her musical abilities, Elsie wrote a poem mentioning some of
the highlights of the year with the Friendship Club. Too long to reproduce here
in full, we give you the last four lines:
“I
can hardly believe a year’s passed by
It’s
gone in like a flash.
Thanks
for being so kind to me
And
willing to have a bash!”
So
pleased was one lady that she asked for a copy and promptly took it home and
framed it.
l Talking of framing things – members were joined by some youngsters to see the great unveiling of the Childhood Memories triptych at the Community Centre to which they had all contributed. As previously reported, this was a collaboration between the Centre and artists from Art.tm. Everyone was pleased with the final work which, after a few weeks at Coronation Park, will be toured around such venues as the library, and hopefully the school before returning for final installation.
