MSP’s surgery proves popular

LOCAL MSP John Farquhar Munro paid a visit to Merkinch on 16th March when he held a late afternoon surgery at the Community Centre. Mr Munro had hoped to attend an evening meeting in Skye, but had to cancel as the surgery – his second in Merkinch – ran an hour late.

Asked afterwards about whether there had been any particular recurring topics in constituents’ complaints, Mr Munro said that unlike other areas such as Dalneigh where housing and vandalism were uppermost, these subjects had hardly come up at all.

“People here have other outlets for such problems, in their tenants’ associations,” he said. Topics in Merkinch had been more about personal and benefit matters, he said.
