Out of School
l COMMUNITY Police Officer Alistair Stewart made quite an impression on pupils when he came to school to explain what the police do to keep everyone safe – if the drawings the children did afterwards are anything to go by. Primary 3/4 had a particularly exciting time at the Burnett Road police station where they saw the control centre, the CCTV room, interview and identification rooms and even the cells.
l Pupils in P1SM and P6/7K have just started paired reading. This is where two share a book for sessions lasting 15 minutes at a time. Pupils find this more enjoyable than reading on their own, and everyone involved gains from the activity.
l Telford House now has a new captain – Bobbie King. She will be helped by her new vice-captain Hailee Docherty.
l Recent staff changes include au revoirs to Mrs Iliffe and Mrs Murray who have been working temporarily in the learning support team. And welcome to Mrs Tracey who is joining the learning support team.
l Thanks to all who have been bringing in used postage stamps for Chris Smart’s church charity. Please keep collecting, and remember to leave a bit of the envelope around the stamps.
