Hi there!
Remember the Fun Day that was snowed off this winter? Well we’re going to be running another Fun Day on 20th April - surely we won’t be snowed off then! There will be two workshops in the morning and two more in the afternoon - ring us for details nearer the time. The day will run from 10.30am to 4pm and there will be a free lunch and free creche. So come along and share a good day with us. Meantime, starting after Easter, we are planning a drop-in session on Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12.30pm for 18 to 25-year-olds. And if you have the kids - bring them along. See you soon...

RAISING their glasses at an evening craft session in mp33 are Lesley, Margaret, Candy and Beth. The young women’s group were learning how to decorate simple glasses with special paint to personalise and enhance them. First they drew out the outline of a design in black, then when that was dry they filled it in with brilliant transparent colours. Helping the girls to explore their craft skills was Neiliann. The young women’s group have had a series of meetings on Tuesday evenings in recent weeks with a range of topics.
EIGHT teenagers from Merkinch - five girls and three boys - along with two youth leaders went on an action-packed visit to the Fairburn Activity Centre in Easter Ross on 15/16 March.
Arriving on Friday evening they got into gear right away, tackling the assault course and other team-building outdoor activities.
Then there was the mountain-sliding, the aerial slide, golf frisbee and the always-popular archery - Kyle got a bullseye!
The young people, aged between 13 and 15, returned home on Saturday evening.
“They packed a lot into the 24 hours they were there,” said Roni Smith. “And they all enjoyed themselves very much.
“There was a really good atmosphere.”
OPERATING from mp33 on a weekly basis are the following:
CALLING all unemployed young people aged between 16 and 25!
If you are all of these - and perhaps a bit bored and disheartened as well - you can go on a residential personal development course aboard a barge on the Caledonian Canal.
Organised by the Prince’s Trust, the six-day adventure, which runs from 21-26 April includes a chance to go canoeing, mountain-biking, raft building and orienteering. There will also be short informal sessions discussing a wide range of health and employment issues, and action planning for the future.
The idea is that you will make new friends, increase your confidence, find out how you work in a team and, above all, have fun. “Highland Recharge”, as the course is called, takes place on a fully refurbished and beautifully equipped 1930s motor barge called Fingal of Caledonia. So call in at mp33 and see Heather Pirie.
She’ll be happy to give you more details and show you how to sign up for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Or ring her (01463) 250249.
THE group currently working on their Duke of Edinburgh award programme have been busy studying a First Aid course with instructor John Hanning. The lads are planning to take part in the first of the series of expeditions that are involved in the programme, sometime this month.
A Story by NS
I KNOW a girl at school in Inverness, we’ll call her Cheryl, and she was my best mate. One day Cheryl and I fell out with each other and she went away to play with another girl called Siobhan.
I went off to play rounders with Claire and Lindsay. We got a loan of a ball from Siobhan and we all started playing. Cheryl whispered to Siobhan “Go and take your ball of them.” Siobhan and Cheryl came over to all of us and asked me for her ball back.
I said “Yes wait a minute” and Claire said “Can we play with it until the bell goes please,” but they said no.
Cheryl started to get cheeky, so Claire went over and battered her. Cheryl ran home from school and told her mum. Her mum went mad, came up to the school and started shouting and bawling at the head teacher.
Things got sorted out but Cheryl had to move school. The girl who battered Cheryl got into deep trouble and everybody hates her. So things are fine now and I visit Cheryl sometimes but I miss her a bit.
POSH Spice is having another baby to David Beckham! This is their second baby. Their first baby is called Brooklyn. He is coming up for two years old. David is delighted that she is having a baby and Posh loves being pregnant.
I wonder if it’s a boy or a girl and if it’s going to be a singer like its mum or a footballer like its dad?
