IF the person who was told they had won an electronic game at the Fashion Show raffle on 22nd March and opened the box only to find they had been handed a camera case by mistake, pops into mp33 they can pick up their proper prize. Apologies for the disappointment!

A COFFEE morning is being held on Saturday 5th April in the Trinity Church between 10 and 12. Proceeds will go to the Breakfast Club which celebrates its third birthday next month. Donations of baking or raffle prizes would be very welcome. Please contact the Breakfast Club through Merkinch Community Centre on 239563.

A sponsored walk is being held on Wednesday 9th April in aid of Merkinch Community Centre’s After-School Club. The walk leaves the Centre at 3.30pm. The Club aims to use the proceeds for a trip to Rollerbowl.

JIM Baxter, Merkinch-born captain of Clach in its halcyon days, has died in Easter Ross aged 82. He made his footballing debut in 1937, aged 16 and went on to play for Glasgow Rangers. He led Clach to its clean sweep of trophies in 1947 after serving in the RAF during WW2. Ajoiner by trade Mr Baxter finally hung up his boots in 1954.
