An amazing £900 was raised at the charity football match between Merkinch Arms and Cromarty Arms on Sunday 21st February. The match was organised to help raise funds to give a holiday of a lifetime to young Courtney Louise Taylor, brother Billy (11) and mum and dad. Courtney who has Hurlers Disease (a rare condition that prohibits the break down of sugar in the body) will be flying off to Disneyland this month. One of the big events planned for the family trip to America is swimming with the dolphins.
The match, sponsored by Merkinch Arms and the Cromarty Arms, has now enabled the Courtney Louise Appeal Fund to reach its target. The organisers of the event would like to thank all those involved, especially : All the players who took part, all the Grant Street Traders who gave additional sponsorship, M&B Spares, John MacDonald of Motor Traders, The Nip Inn and Maurice McIntosh Motorcycles who all gave generously. A special thanks also goes to North West Contracts who donated the match ball (which was raffled afterwards), Alastair Kidd (Referee), John Smith and Stagecoach (Coach use for the day), Mairi at the McAllans Bar (Karoake Machine), James MacPhee (Merkinch Arms) and Robbie Lowe (Cromarty Arms). And last, but not least, a big thanks goes to the match organiser Ricky Burnside and everyone else who made the day a great success.
