MERKINCH Traders Association have received official confirmation that the CCTV cameras for Grant Street and Chapel Street are definitely to go ahead.

The initial paper work is already underway, and it is hoped the system will be in operation by the autumn. MTA are now beginning to collect the £4000 they promised to contribute towards the cost. They say that if any members of the public would like to contribute, even a small sum, they should contact Jim Smith, the cobbler, in Lochalsh Road.

Merkinch Community Council are also putting £1000 of their funds toward the cost.
