Backed snugly in front of the bollard, right into a spot that blocks the white-striped exit from the bicycle by-pass area, is a parked vehicle
AN accident waiting to happen. That’s the abuse of the cycle lanes in Thornbush Road, according to local woman Linda Shields.
Linda, who lives in Anderson Street, looks after her mum, who is crippled with arthritis and lives in Carnarc Crescent.
“Every day I cycle up and down Thornbush Road doing mam’s shopping, and collecting her pension etc, which she can’t do for herself.
“On Thornbush Road there are bicycles painted on the road; I thought this was for cycles to keep them out of danger on what is a very busy road.
“But very often there is a car parked on the centre of the bicycle area.
“Recently my nine-year-old son was cycling with me, and if it hadn’t been for a low pavement and me telling him to go up on the pavement (which is against the law) my son wouldn’t be here now.”
