THE highly successful Action Team for Jobs project, which has been operating from mp33 has moved a few doors along - to No 25 Grant Street.

The highly successful project, which has helped many Merkinchers back into work, first started in mp33 in the autumn of 2000.

Elaine Fraser, who is Project Manager of the Action Team explains: "We offer support to all jobless clients aged 16 and over in the area covered by postcode IV3-8, whether they are in receipt of benefits or not."

The project's success reflects the way the Action Team utilise their resources. "We work to enhance existing provisions already available through Jobcentres or offer 'new' provision or assistance to meet the needs, both of job-seekers and employers," Elaine said. Key areas where the project can help include:

• Assistance with transport costs/provision
• Funds to cover lying time
• Aftercare package - in-work support
• Short training packages to suit employer needs.
• Childcare training and costs
• Training or wage subsidies.
