RECENT figures from Highland Council show
that Merkinch's local councillors are doing their best
to keep costs to a minimum. For both Peter Corbett,
with annual expenses and allowances totalling
£9365.66, and Chrissie Cumming (£10,242.25) clocked up
less than two-thirds of the average £15,755.

THE Active Adults group are looking forward
to a busy August with a number of events planned: 6th
- Games in Board Room, 13th - Outdoor Archery, 20th
Indoor Bowling, 24th - Gala Day strawberry teas, 27th
- Joint picnic at Dores with members of the city's
other active adults groups, from Raigmore, Hilton and
Charleston.

THE Friendship Club, which meets for lunch at
the Community Centre every Wednesday, is going on a
bus run to Glen Affric on 7th August. Other activities
during the month include a beetle drive and the
ever-popular bingo.

SOCIAL Justice Minister Margaret Curran
visited mp33 and Craigton Avenue Community House when
she visited Merkinch on 17th July.
