CONDOLENCES have gone out from the entire Merkinch community to the family of little Stephen Fraser who died suddenly last month. Four-year-old Stephen, who lived with his parents Fiona and Alexander in Carnarc Crescent, suffered from a rare blood disorder.

POLICE are investigating a series of car fires that have taken place in the Merkinch area in recent weeks. Two youths have been seen near the scene of the most recent blaze, in an Abban Street yard, and also on an earlier occasion in Madras Street. Two other cars were set alight last month, in Glendoe Terrace and in Kessock Road.

WANT to stop smoking but feel you need some support? A new initiative by the unwieldy name of the Highland Smoking Cessation Service is running a drop-in facility at the Spectrum Centre on Thursdays from 6.15pm to 9pm.
