FLIPERZ WINS AGAIN
The future of Fliperz Childcare Centre, an umbrella organisation of Merkinch Enterprise, has been secured thanks to the National Lottery 'New Opportunities Fund'.
Fliperz ,which has recently achieved it’s long term ambition by becoming a full day child care centre a little over 4 months ago, was awarded the grant of £15,000 for help towards staff costs over the next year.
Fliperz is situated within the refurbished Merkinch Hall and their success story began during late 1998, when they received a three month funding package from the Highland Childcare Partnership allowing them to operate as a pre-school nursery. This pilot project proved a great success with the numbers of children enjoying the facility steadily increasing.
The day care centre recently applied for, and were awarded, a contract by the local authority to provide “free” nursery education to 3 and 4 year olds, which will be available to all parents who live within the Merkinch and Dalneigh wards.
Fliperz has come a long way since its early days, when the centre operated as an out-of-school-care club staffed entirely by a bank of dedicated volunteers. And it is still very much due to the dedication of those folks, through their hard work, motivation and enthusiasm that Fliperz will be able to enjoy a bright, and rosy future.
