WORLD WIDE APPLICATIONS FOR MERKINCH TRAINING CENTRE
Yip, Merkinch is out there with the rest of the world. Middle of nowhere, out-in-the sticks, back-of-beyond, anywhere North of Watford may as well be on another planet - terms of yesteryear, no longer applicable in these days of modern technology, and Merkinch is no exception.
As many of you may be aware Merkinch Enterprise runs Information Technology training courses for people who live outside the area (in case any of you are wondering why - this is the commercial arm of the Enterprise, set up solely to financially support other non-profit making Merkinch Enterprise projects), and one of the ways in which we advertise is through our web page on the Internet, www.merkinch.org.uk. Anyway, as I was saying, we offer training to people who live outside the Merkinch Ward, so we are used to enquiries from people who live in Hilton, Kinmylies, even Drumnadrochit, however, last week we were all given a shock, and a laugh, when we received several e-mails from a woman in Hunt - no not Huntly, but Hunt, Texas, US of A!!
Kaye from Hunt County Tax Office sent several e-mails asking for a date and time for our next database course, which of course we responded to, stating our times and dates of our next course and also pointing out that MTC was located in the North of Scotland, a fair few miles from Texas!
Kaye’s response was swift. She replied that travel would not be a problem for her, but she thought the tax payers of Hunt County may have a problem with Kaye and 6 of her colleagues travelling to the North of Scotland for a seven hour training course, so in Texas she will reluctantly remain!!
