OUR PLACE

"Our Place" is a textile tent celebrating cultural connections and diversities. The textile project is part of the Workers’ Education Association and the City of Edinburgh. The multi-cultural project, which is travelling throughout Scotland, sought to involve communities in Edinburgh by collecting people’s life stories.

The textile project promotes people’s culture as something to be strengthened and safeguarded and has taken the groups involved one year to set up and complete. The finished installation is 5 metres in diameter, enabling people to walk through it and around it.

The exhibition, which is being presented by the Cultural and Leisure Services will be at the Merkinch Community Centre from the 3 - 13 August, and admission is free. So why not pop along next time you’re passing and see this rich and vibrant piece of community art.
