Food Fight in Grant Street

The owner of Grant Street takeaway outlet “The Universal Garden & Beefy’s Pizzas” has vowed to carry on, regardless of the latest planning application going against him. The official statement from the planning department was “it was refused on the grounds that the proposal would exasperate existing situations with regard to similar facilities in this area and would, between noise & disturbance be detrimental to the amenity of residents of existing & proposed adjacent housing”. Translated it means that the application to cook food on the premises was turned down because of the flats nearby.

Owner of the Univeral Garden & Beefy’s Pizzas, Mr. Tom Fletcher is unrepentant and vows to appeal. “The site of the new takeaway is no different to other takeaway outlets in Grant Street as they all have residential dwellings around them. There has been no complaints from surrounding residents.” His appeal will be heard by the planning committee later in the year.
