Majestic Merkinch

The Gala Queen

It was a damp Saturday afternoon, but the Merkinch faithful still turned out in their droves for the Merkinch Gala Day. Some ambled around the stalls while others decided to have a go on the many competitions & games that were there. There was a bouncy castle, beat the goalie and even a coconut shy.

At 1.30 pm the Merkinch Gala Day was officially opened by the new Merkinch Princess Donna Salmond, and her two attendants Tammy Reid of Telford Street and Zoe MacKenzie of Kessock Avenue.

Donna was crowned by last year’s Gala Princess Nicola Taylor. After the coronation, the festivities got into full swing with line dancing, throw the wellie, face painting etc.

It will take a while to count the money but first impressions would indicate approximately £300. The money gets put forward to activities within the Community Centre for the coming year.
