Dear Merkinch News and Views,
With the world cup over it’s back to the silky skills of Clach at Grant Street, the Highland League has still not moved on. How long it can stay in it’s current format is debatable. It’s not like sponsors are falling over themselves to pump money into the clubs or attendances are rising; so how will clubs survive? Any ideas?
I have to say as a newcomer to Merkinch it is good to see so many young people playing football. They need encouragement, coaching and proper facilities. It’s not like there isn’t any money in the game! Sepp Blatter the new head of F.I.F.A. kindly does the job without a salary (nice man). However, he receives £1,700,000 expenses over 4 years. That’s £8,000 a week, I doubt if he will be staying at B&B!!!!!!
Here’s a tip for the Physio at Grant Street; A Cameroon player broke his leg at the World Cup, his treatment was a leg burial, followed by massages with Gorilla bones!!!
That’s all for now

Dear Merkinch Resident,
You have raised some interesting points here, what does the rest of the Merkinch area think of the state of the Highland League and Clach in particular. Clach has had an illustrious history (to be detailed in future issues of the News and Views) and in recent years has had to fight hard to survive.
However the point has been raised that attendance figures are down. Ask anybody in the Merkinch what team they support, and the answer is Clach, so go and see them play, you might be pleasantly surprised!
