STARTING 9th January, a new club for “Active Adults” is being launched at Merkinch Community Centre on Tuesday afternoons. The suggested programme will include lots of interesting outings as well as things to do indoors.

Elsie Normington, who organises events at the Community Centre, says there could be trips to Rollerbowl (transport provided), countryside walks, “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” (Merkinch version!), Winter Warmers and crafts.

Says Elsie, “As the group develops we can explore new ideas together.”

Cost of attending the sessions, which will run from 2pm to 4pm, is £1. For more information ring Elsie on Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 239563.

• Meanwhile the Friendship Club, which has seen an increase in membership recently, is having its Christmas Party on 7th December at the Community Centre, at which entertainment will be provided by Elsie and the King's Band.
  Next year promises an interesting range of topics at the club's weekly lunches – a dietician, a beetle drive, community safety and easy exercise for older folk.
