MERKINCH Enterprise has sailed through its three-year “MOT” with Investors in People Scotland.
The charity, which was set up in 1992 to advance education, promote employment, industry and commerce, and relieve poverty in the Merkinch area, first gained the Investors In People award in November 1997.
The IIP awards look into the standards of planning, effective communication and evaluating staff training in an organisation. Merkinch Enterprise has always had a good reputation for staff training, with many who enter the organisation as volunteers moving on to become staff members.
Last month various representatives from the staff and volunteers in Merkinch Enterprise's various departments as well as from the Board of Directors were interviewed by the IIP assessor.
He sought to know how effective the induction process was for new volunteers, New Deal trainees, members of staff and school pupils on work experience – including standard procedures, policies and health and safety procedures – and what training opportunities were available.
In his feedback review, which is confidential, the assessor discusses his objectives in detail, his conclusions and his findings from the review… which we can say resulted in the IIP award being granted again.
