Remembrance Day

NOVEMBER 11th brings sad memories for the older generations of Merkinchers.

In memory of his former colleagues in the Royal Scots, George Urquhart of Madras Court recalls his cousin Charles Williamson of Simpson's Lane, killed in action December 1941 in Hong Kong; William McKay of Ness Square, killed in action; and Arthur Linklater of Nelson Street, who was torpedoed off Lisbon in March 1942.

“I left them behind, but they are always in my thoughts,” says Mr Urquhart.
