MERKINCH Enterprise has gained the distinction of becoming a branded Learning Centre - this means our Training Centre is recognised as being a centre of quality training for the general public and not only exclusively for Merkinchers.
The target for such Learning Centres is 300 in Scotland, and Merkinch is the 200th to achieve this status.

The occasion is to be marked later this month when Christine Lenihan, chairman of Learn Direct Scotland, comes to Grant Street to make a presentation and meet the staff and Board of Merkinch Enterprise.
The charity has always been involved with training, and right from the start in 1992 courses were held at Grant Street.

However, it was with the award in 1996 of the three-year Lottery funding that our range of training courses really took off.

• Two of our staff - Eddie MacDonald and Gordon Nairne are to attend a Skillnet training course in Glasgow this month which will allow them to enhance our ability to deliver quality training.
