Police news
The year past and the year to come…

AS WE draw closer to the end of this year and the beginning of 2002, it is good to look back and reflect on the past few months that Alastair Stewart and I have been working here in the Merkinch area. This year has seen many changes both in police personnel working in the area and our move down to the Community House here in Craigton Avenue.

Although we are still based at Burnett Road police office in the Longman, Alastair and I work in the main from Craigton Avenue. The Community House is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and more often than not we can either be found in the building or seen somewhere around (depending on shifts). Should you have any concerns or something you may wish to have a chat about, please pop along. If however we are not in, you can just leave a message with anyone there and we’ll get in touch.

As we’ve said on many occasions, both Alistair and I are committed to working here in the Merkinch area and with the help of other agencies here at Craigton Avenue we hope to help improve the quality of life in the community.

Now that the nights are longer and colder, we ask you to remember that these days, unfortunately, there are many living alone who may be unable to keep themselves warm adequately and are vulnerable to the cold. If you have any concerns for friends or neighbours who live on their own, please make sure they are okay and keep in regular contact with them.

Finally, may we take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy festive season. We’d also like to thank all those who have helped and supported police efforts in Merkinch over the last year and hope you will continue to help us make a difference.

Remember you can get in touch with Alastair and me at Craigton Avenue, or ring the Police on :
