Wider training role opens up for Merkinch Enterprise

MERKINCH Enterprise are hopeful of achieving approval for the next round of training for the unemployed, funded by the European Social Fund and supported by Inverness and Nairn Enterprise.

The Grant Street based charity, which celebrates its 10th birthday this year, has been successfully providing free training to help people get back to work since 1994.
But in 2003 they hope to extend their service even further.
For not only will out-of-work Merkinchers be able to get a grounding in IT skills, but jobless people from all over the Inverness and Nairn Enterprise area will be able to study computing at the organisation’s recently refurbished premises at No12.

“Courses are available right from basic computing skills up to advanced word processing, spreadsheets and database systems,” says Merkinch Enterprise’s chief executive Colin Downie.
“We hope to deliver a similar facility so that the unemployed from the whole INE area will be able to access the level of training that Merkinchers have enjoyed for many years.”
