THIRTEEN valid nominations to serve on Merkinch Community Council were received by returning officer Brian MacLeod by the deadline last month.
As an election would only have been required if there had been in excess if 16 nominations, there will be no poll.
The list comprises, in alphabetical order, the following:

Alistair E Locke, Craigton Avenue;
Donald A Kerr, Upper Kessock Street;
Elizabeth D McClurg, Craigton Avenue;
Anne McCreadie, Thornbush Road;
Alexander D MacLean, Telford Road;
Alexander J MacLeod, Abbey Court;
Lorna J MacLeod, Wyvis Place;
Margaret Ross, Rosehaugh Road;
Frances Welsh, Upper Kessock Street;
Isabelle Williamson, Madras Street.

While there are several members from previous incarnations of the community council, there are also some new faces - and we wish them all well in their efforts on behalf of the community.
The first meeting of the new community council takes place on Thursday 4th December in Merkinch Primary School at 7.30pm.
