mp33 - Involving young people in Merkinch

Hi there!

The youth clubs are continuing to be busy-the Juniors on Monday nights and the Seniors on Wednesdays. The Juniors, who often have as many as 30 or more members in attendance, are going to be making Christmas cards and decorations as well as getting ideas for gifts and stocking fillers; that’s on Monday 1st December. The following week they are going to the Pantomime at Eden Court, which this year is Jack and the Beanstalk.

And on 15th December the Juniors are holding their Christmas Party which will include the Awards ceremony, plus the Bouncy Castle!

The Seniors Wednesday night sessions will see them making Christmas cards and playing Uni-Hoc on the 3rd December. The following week, on the 10th, there is a Big Brother Night and volleyball, while on the 17th, it is Awards night, plus a chance to sing to the Karaoke machine.

Both clubs are closed over the Christmas holidays, re-opening early in January (check with the community Centre for dates). If you are not already a member, why not decide to join. It costs just £2 to be a member, and 40p for every night you attend. If you are not a member, you can still come along, but it costs 80p per session.

Only those who have paid their membership are entitled to take part in trips, matches and other outings.

Remember, at any time of year young people of all ages can always drop in at No.33 and see what’s going on. See you soon.

Finally, don’t forget the Community Christmas Concert on Tuesday 16th-it promises to be a great night.

The Ossian Project

THE Escape Group are still working on their Ossian project. Based at the Community Centre, this involves using video cameras to identify current cultural themes.
Artist Gavin Lockhart has been working with the group on a theme relating to push-chairs, tricky public transport, stiff doors, narrow shop entrances, crossing busy streets etc.something which is a familiar and major element in the lives of the Escape Group!

The National Gallery in Edinburgh, who toured the Ossian show have sponsored this programme and it is hoped to produce a finished video within the next few weeks.
