DEAR NEWS AND VIEWS

A group of individuals in Inverness have come together to develop a Credit union for people who live or work in the town, which is set to launch in February of next year.

The aim of the Credit Union will be to provide a community-based savings and loan service, which will be owned and run by the members.

Open to anybody who lives or works in the town, members will be encouraged to save regularly and after they have done so for a minimum of 13 weeks, they will be eligible to apply for a loan of up to twice the amount they have in savings. We hope that you will support this worthwhile venture for the people of Inverness, in particular by indicating where you believe that the Credit Union could help meet a real need that is not currently being met.

Please feel free to write or fax me with your views about the idea of a Credit Union in Inverness. If you would like further information, please contact either myself or Christine Gower on 224644.
