Uisdean MacRae from Nelson Street is on the move again, this time down to Glasgow for no less than the prestigious International Wheelchair Dancing Championships.
Uisdean and his team, The High Flyers, will be competing with other teams from throughout the UK and further afield, Uisdean says: "The High Flyers will be competing against teams from North and South England and there will be another Scottish team, from the Central Belt, we have still to find out what international teams will be taking part, but we do know that there is a team from America coming over, not to participate but to display their dancing skills." Uisdean and his team qualified to this stage by competing successfully in the Scottish Wheelchair Championships which were held in Glasgow earlier on in the year, "The International Championships will be held in the same venue as the Scottish competition, and hopefully our team will bring home the International Team title."
News and Views wishes Uisdean and The High Flyers lots of luck in the championships. And, as well as competing in the Glasgow event, Uisdean informs the News and Views that he has been asked by the M.S (Multiple Sclerosis) Centre on Burnett Road to take part in a half marathon, which is being organised by the Inverness Harriers. The marathon is due to take place in Inverness on 1st January 2000, (yes folks, that’s New Year’s Day to you and me!) and what can we say, but, well Uisdean you are either very brave or mad! Or maybe both! Good Luck, we will all be cheering you on.
