THE major building project going on behind the walls of the one-time militia barracks in Telford Road is well ahead of schedule.
One element of the complex is the halfway house for former Craig Dunain patients making their way back into the community.
This unit has accommodation for 20 people in four flats, each with their own en suite room. Plus space for round-the-clock managerial and nursing presence as well as occupational therapists and other staff.
Chris Meacham of Highland Primary Health Care NHS Trust said the project was some weeks ahead of schedule and he expected the first ex-patients to take up residence in mid-July. “It really is 21st century accommodation,” he said.
The other element of the complex is housing – 10 x 2-bedroomed flats – for developers the Macmillan Brothers. The builders, the Robertson Group, are working all hours, sometimes under floodlight, to complete for the end of March .
