DELAYS to the start of the planned traffic-calming measures in Thornbush Road are down to roads winter maintenance and flood prevention work caused by the wild weather this winter. Work was set to start at the beginning of December, but according to Shane Manning of the Roads & Transport department it has not yet gone ahead simply because of the demands made on their manpower at this time of year.
"It is certainly imminent," Mr Manning told the News & Views. The scheme will involve narrowing the carriageway to make it easier for pedestrians to cross, and to cut motor speeds, a chicane, and also safer conditions for cyclists.
