FIVE girls who live in Merkinch, aided by some of their wee pals, scored a great success with a charity event last month that raised well over £100 for Children 1st.

Jennifer Hughes, Lana, Margaret Wright, Stacey Allan, and Siobhan Williamson were getting a bit bored with the holidays so they started to plan their fashion 'n' dance event and work out dance routines. Jennifer, a pupil at Merkinch Primary, was the presenter and Siobhan organised the music, while the other three – plus some younger ones – danced in a range of different outfits. Some of these were the girls' own clothes, and some were lent by the Children 1st charity shop.

There was a good turn-out and altogether they raised £111 – now they are thinking about holding a disco later in the year. Well done, girls!
