A SPECIAL Jobsfair, organised by Action Team for Jobs, is being held at Merkinch Community Centre on Friday 9th February between 10am and 4pm.
Experienced Action Team advisers and local employers and training agencies will be available to meet local people to discuss vacancies.
The Employment Service launched Action Team for Jobs in October last year to enable experienced advisers to focus on areas that have particular problems of labour-market disadvantage by developing and supporting radically innovative ways of getting jobless people into work. Since the launch, 43 people have already started work in the pilot areas the teams are working.
By providing flexible and innovative support to people without jobs in certain areas of Inverness and the Highlands, Action Teams help job-seekers move into employment. The sort of help that is available can cover such costs as transport, training or childcare.
Elaine Fraser, Project Manager of the Action Team, told News & Views: “We are delighted to be holding this Jobsfair as it gives people the opportunity to come along, find out more about Action Team for Jobs and meet local employers. Action Team's flexible approach and one-to-one advice can make a real difference to people without work. “We offer support to all jobless clients aged 16 and over, living in the area, whether they are in receipt of benefit or not. Action Team works to enhance existing provision already available through Jobcentres and offer new assistance to meet the individual needs of both job-seekers and employers.”
Anyone from Merkinch is welcome to come along to the Jobsfair – but those who cannot attend can find out more about Action Team services by dropping in at mp33 in Grant Street 10am to 12.30pm Tuesday to Friday or phoning 888236.
