EX-PATRIATE Merkinchers Lorraine Main and Peter Jamieson shared the agony when they hit the wall on the Dubai Marathon on 11th January. For Lorraine (41), whose maiden name was Mackenzie, it was her first marathon and husband Alan (son of Merkinchers Alex and Ella Main) is very proud of her. Her late parents Phyllis and Jimmy formerly lived in Glendoe Terrace. Older Merkinchers will recall that Peter’s grandfather Alex Jamieson opened the first bookie’s in Merkinch, on the corner of Grant Street and Lower Kessock Street. Peter used to work with McDermotts at Ardersier but now runs his own IT company in Dubai.
