Police have young Carse vandals in their sights

THE recent outbreak of vandalism in and around Kilmuir Road, Benula Road and Glendoe Terrace is down to children, the police believe. A number of witnesses have spotted the youngsters and it is understood that it is only a matter of time before they are brought to book.

A number of windows have been struck leaving small holes, but this is thought to be more likely caused by small stones, possibly from catapults, rather than airgun pellets.

“We are actively looking into this outbreak,” say the community police and have various leads.” However, as always, the police are grateful for any information which people can provide that will help put a stop to such antisocial and destructive mischief.

Meanwhile vandalism seems to be somewhat on the wane in South Kessock where some cases have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal; others have been warned.
The area was “extremely quiet” over the festive period, according to the police. Both community police have stepped up the time they spend on foot patrols, sometimes walking up to eight hours a day round Merkinch.
