SCHOOL children sometimes become bored in the holidays, but the recently set-up New Community School Project has an answer to that. For the Inverness High-based organisation has a programme of interesting things for children of all ages to do throughout the summer.
The Outdoor Activity Programme is based at the Fairburn Outdoor Centre near Muir of Ord. Set in wonderful woodland, this centre offers opportunities for all sorts of interesting (and energetic) things to do – canoeing, climbing and abseiling, mountain-biking, archery, raft-building, aerial runway, ropes course, treasure hunts and hill walking. This course – which costs £1 per session – lasts all day, picking you up at Merkinch Community Centre at 9.30am and returning at 5pm. S1 & 2’s days are Tuesdays, S3-S6 Wednesdays.
Then there is an Indoor Activity Programme which consists of a choice of basketball, athletics, wall climbing, unihoc, badminton, table tennis, trampolining and swimming in the fun pool, is based at Inverness Sports Centre and Aquadome from 11.45am to 3pm. Sessions for S1/2 and S3-S6 are both on Thursdays and Fridays, also from early July to mid-August.
Merkinch Primary 6/7 also get a chance to enjoy a taste of these activities, but only on one week – 7-11th August for those attending the Community Centre Playscheme and 3-7th July for others. For more details ring 235554 now – PLACES ARE LIMITED!
