THERE is no rest for the wicked: despite Merkinch Youth Club closing on 28 June, Youth Club leaders were straightway involved in training volunteers of all ages who are helping run the Playscheme, which is happening at Merkinch Community Centre between 10th July and 10th August.

The Playscheme, which is for P1 to P7 youngsters, takes place afternoons Monday to Thursday between 1pm and 4pm. Registration dates were 27th June 4.30-6.30pm and 28th 10am-12 noon, but if you missed those it is unlikely you will be turned away with a sore heart.

• Members of the Youth Club brought home the silver from Perth last month in the finals of the Youth Club Scotland sports championships. Joy Dempsey was runner-up in the U-19 Table Tennis and Donna Bain came second in the U-15 Darts. Well done, girls!

The Club reopens for all local youngsters, from P4 upwards, on 31 July.
