School windfall

THE 220 schools throughout the Highlands received a £1.87 million end-of-term bonus, of which Merkinch Primary’s share was £9000, a little above the average. Head teacher Sheena Morrison told News & Views that the money had already been earmarked to pay for updating their Maths and Languages teaching programmes, for maintenance – principally the hall floor – and for IT equipment to go with their new computers. The extra cash was allocated according to the size of the school roll.
