ABSOLUTELY chuffed... that was the ladies of the recently formed Merkinch Active Adults group when they won the Rollerbowl Trophy. Four of them faced stiff competition from other 50+ groups from Charleston, Drakies and Hilton and won three of the five contests, including the overall trophy.

What made the victory particularly sweet was that this was not only the first time they had taken part in the contest, but it was only the second time they had ever tried ten-pin bowling!
Every Tuesday afternoon the Active Adults group meets at Merkinch Community Centre for a couple of hours and try something new as well as having a cup of tea and a bit of a blether.
Sometimes they go out and about visiting places of interest, or try their hand at a range of activities - totally new to some - such as bowling, darts, snooker, clay modelling, painting, basic computing, music improvisation and quizzes.
