Dear Editor,
I am writing to you about people who take their dogs for a walk and let them do the toilet in and around the children’s play park and the maisonettes in Anderson Street, which is very unhygienic. There is, for instance, a lady who takes her dog all round the place I’ve mentioned instead of walking her dog to the bottom of the area away from the play park - she would rather let the dog “go” in the play park!
I personally will not let my children play there any more because of this, and I think it is about time something was done to stop it.
Children have the right to a safe area to play in, but unfortunately that will not happen unless dog owners become more aware of what they are doing, and people take a stand and put a stop to this.

We totally agree - isn’t there a council bye-law? Perhaps poop-scoops free to all dog-owners would help highlight the problem - Ed
