INVERNESS Family Project and Surestart Inverness held an Open Day at their premises in Quayside Court on 25th June. The NCH-run centre works with young children and their families in the area and helps in a variety of ways:

• by helping parents understand what stage their child is at and what can be expected from them as they develop;
• by helping parents find ways to let their children experience what they need as they grow;
• by working with parents on how to handle children’s behaviour, and
• by letting parents enjoy some adult conversation.

The project can provide home visiting to work with parents in their own homes, and there are parenting issues’ groups, supported with creche facilities. There are also small groups for parents and the under-5s and a pre-nursery group.
