Friendship Club welcomes visitors from West

Tea PartyIt all started at a 50+ event in Inverness Sports Centre last year when Merkinchers admired a beautiful model croft that had been made by attendees at the Howard Doris Centre in Lochcarron.
There and then the ladies from the West gave the croft, on a long-term loan, to the Dolphin Centre at South Kessock pier to add to their display. This was followed by an invitation from the Lochcarron day centre to members of the Merkinch Community Centre’s Friendship Club.

And so, on 19th June the visit was duly returned. Elsie Normington (pictured above left) who organises events for older people at the Centre, and her helpers, made sure the Community Centre’s tables were looking their best, with lilac tablecloths, little vases with flowers and individual handmade envelopes which had after-dinner mints inside. After lunch the visitors went to the Dolphin Centre. They were delighted with their welcome in Merkinch and no doubt there will be more cross-Highland visits in the future.
