Grant Street Traders

At a recent meeting held by the Grant Street Traders, Secretary Jim Smith and Chair, Mr Clair Pieraccini raised the issue of the Highland Council plans to scrap traffic wardens from the Grant Street area.

Chief Superintendent of the Police, Ramsay McGhee gave his support to the Grant Street Traders in their bid to stop the Councils plans. The meeting heard that the traffic wardens play an invaluable and important role in this area, as Jim says "They pick up sick people and drunks. They are always helpful in getting police and ambulances quickly to the scene." Mr Smith added "If Mr Carter wanted money to be saved he could start by not bringing in firms like JMP Accountants in the first place. How much are they costing in this instance? And where are they from?" It was unanimously voted at the meeting traffic wardens should be kept in the area at all costs.
