One hundred and twenty children attended the Gala Princess Disco in the Community Centre on Friday 28th May 1998. The disco was the occasion to choose the Gala Princess who will be crowned on the Gala Day 18th July in Clach Park.
Two judges who did not know any of the children had the task of selecting the trio. In age old tradition the results were announced in reverse order. The two attendants were Tammy Reid of Telford Street and Zoe MacKenzie of Kessock Avenue. The judges said they had a very difficult task overall and that the quality of those who entered was very high.
The battle for the Princess title was very tight and the eventual winner was Donna Salmond of Coronation Road. Donna will be crowned on Gala Day by Nicola Taylor, last years Gala Princess.
The decision of the judges was well received by all those attending who went on to have a great time at the disco, the annual Gala Day is open to all and will have a range of stalls, Bouncy Castle and Bungee run. Do come along and enjoy yourselves. Anne Jasinski said "The disco was a great success and everyone enjoyed themselves," and was pleased she didn't have the difficult job of judging.
