THE Area Education department are on the lookout for anyone willing to act as an occasional relief road crossing patrol person in the Merkinch area.
This would be to cover any of the various lollipop men in the event of illness or some other emergency.
The problem was brought into sharp focus recently when the regular lollipop man at Thornbush Road broke his ankle. Children can be at serious risk from traffic when, for whatever reason, a lollipop man can’t turn out, possibly at fairly short notice. So anyone who lives locally and would be willing to help out as-and-when required would not only be greeted with a very warm welcome by the Education department and the children themselves but would also get paid!
