THE Playscheme at Merkinch Community Centre could go ahead this summer, but it was not known when we went to press if it can attract the necessary funding from the Childcare Partnership. Development officer Elsie Normington says various volunteers have come forward, and following a presentation she made at Inverness High School, a number of pupils have also shown themselves willing to take part.

If the Playscheme does get the green light it would be held four afternoons a week, Monday to Thursday, on four weeks of the school holidays – the second and third, and the fifth and sixth weeks. The funding would allow for a leader and assistant, both part-time.
