THE Merkinch Friendship Club is going from strength to strength: last month saw a couple of dozen members take a sunny day trip to Kyle of Lochalsh, and a group of recorder players from Merkinch Primary's P6/7 entertain members at a lunchtime session.

Members, who lunch together every Wednesday at Merkinch Community Centre, really enjoyed reminiscing about their schooldays with the youngsters.

June sees the club – which has acquired a few new members recently – have a speaker from the Benefits Agency on the 7th, a Music & Movement session with Andy McKechnie of Merkinch-based Jammin Fitness, plus a couple of bingo sessions with Sandy Mackenzie. And on the 28th an evening outing is planned to sample local entertainment – details later in the month.
