MERKINCH Community Centre Association is currently on a membership drive. The management committee point out the various advantages of being a member, such as having a say at the Centre’s AGM and making a contribution to the community.
Membership - you have to be 18 or over - does not cost anything, and application forms and further details are available at the Centre.

The Association’s principal objectives are “to promote the well-being and benefit of the residents of Merkinch… to advance education and to provide facilities... for recreation and leisure with the object of improving the conditions and quality of life.”

• A Fun Football Group for youngsters aged between 13 and 16 is running on Tuesday evenings throughout June from 7-8.30pm.
• Would you like to see evening classes at Merkinch Community Centre next winter. If it was known what subjects people would be interested in, then funding could very likely be found if there was enough interest. So anyone who has suggestions can contact the Centre on 239563 now, so that something can be organised for next session.
• Parents and other interested people over the age of 16 who would like to be involved in the Playscheme this summer should please contact the Centre. Even if you can only help out for a few hours, your assistance would be appreciated.
• The Centre is always looking for volunteer minibus drivers, even if you can only help for a little while. You need to be between the ages of 21 and 70 and have a clean licence and at least three years’ driving experience. Also welcome would be volunteers to help coach sports or assist with activities. Besides the Breakfast and After-School Clubs, plus various youth clubs, Mothers & Toddlers, Friendship Lunch Club and Active Adults, the Centre has Line Dancing (Mondays) and Tap Dancing classes (Tuesdays and Thursdays), not to mention Ladies Badminton (Mondays), Singing for Pleasure (Tuesdays), Highland Dancing (Thursdays), Indoor Bowling (Thursdays) and Christian Fellowship (Sundays).
